For centuries, witches have captured our cultural imaginations. The archetype of the witch can be a friend or a foe, green skinned and angry or bookish and heroic. From The Craft to The Blair Witch, depictions of witches in movies are diverse and complex, but they often touch upon the same themes: female sexuality, age, beauty, and power. In this episode, McKenzie and Bridget talk about two recent witch films: The Love Witch and The Witch.

Episode 1: A Quiet Place & Hush

Chick Flicks is for anyone that loves film but finds themselves thinking, “I wish this movie review had 100% more feelings.” In the first Chick Flicks episode, Bridget and McKenzie discuss the recent John Krasinski-helmed monster movie A Quiet Place and the 2016 home invasion horror movie Hush. Both films feature a deaf female character and rely upon deprivation of sound to create tension.
